St. Philomena's, registered ICDL Training and Testing Centre

St. Philomena's Computer Centre is divided into two important areas. The first being the IT Solutions Departement and the second being the Computer Resource and E-learning centre.

The IT Solutions Department plays a valuable role in that it is designed to be the support system needed for the efficient running of St.Philomena's as a whole. It falls under the special care of the enthusiastic,motivated Alphonse, who has an excellent knowledge of both the hardware and software part of Information Technology. This department supports the sections that make up St.Philomena's, viz, Residential, Preschool,Community Care,Saints Hospitality and Mater Dei with each sections specific needs.

The Computer Resource and E-learning Centre was opened on the 5th August 2003. This centre has so far taught computer literacy to more than 300 children and adults form St. Philomena's and the surrounding disadvantaged Primary and Secondary Schools.

In 2005, St.Philomena's became first registered as an ICDL Training Centre by ICDL Foundation in South Africa . The provision of the training is in harmony with as well as broadening of St.Philomena's
focus of assisting less advantaged and disadvantaged youth and adults.

St. Philomena's, is excited to announce that it's Computer Resource and E-learning Centre has now been registered since March 2007 as an ICDL Testing Centre . Testing can take place at anytime of the day and this means a lot to all our skakeholders. From the organisation point of view, we are proud that a big body like ICDL Foundation can trust that we are capable of playing such an important educational role leading to a decent adn internationally recognized qualification.
