Our Children in Residential
Care
St.Philomena's
provides secure temporary residential care for
children. All of our children are affected or
infected by AIDS. They need very special care
because they have often been abused, physically
and/or sexually. Many have been neglected, are
abandoned or orphaned.
At St. Philomena's, every child receives loving
care and an opportunity to heal. Each child
has a strength based, Individual Development
Plan, which is drawn up after a thorough assessment
has taken place. The objective of the Individual
Development Plan is to place each child in the
most empowering, least restrictive programme
for him/her.

OUR
VISION FOR CHILDREN IN
RESIDENTIAL
CARE
Our vision for our children in residential
care is to evaluate each childs situation and, together
with the child, to draw up an individual development
plan, that will help us to optimise the goals and
the environment of each chidl individually.
Our
residential care programme is, strictly spoken, the
first step in reintegrating children into the community.
And as such, this residential programme is therefore
the first stage of St.Philomena's Community Care programme.
As
soon as the individual circumstances of each child
allow a reintegration into a foster family in the
community, this placemnet takes place. On average
children stay in the residential programme for 6-10
months before being reintegrated into the community.
